Royal Automobile Club of Australia THE CLUB

Royal Automobile Club of Australia

Founded in 1903 by Sydney’s first motorists, back when the car was the new technology everyone was wary of. Fitting, then, that its Macquarie Street clubhouse overlooking Circular Quay is where we meet each month.

FAQS

Questions people ask before their first night

Guests at AI in the Garage, RACA Sydney
What is AI in the Garage?

A monthly, hands-on AI workshop held at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia in Sydney. You bring a laptop and one real task, get help handing it over to AI and leave with it working. Then we stay for dinner and drinks.

Do I need to be technical?

Not at all. We get everyone from first-timers who’ve never opened ChatGPT to people building their own AI agents. Tables are grouped by experience, so you’ll get help at a pace that suits you.

What should I bring?

Bring a charged laptop and a real task you’d like AI to help you tackle, whether it’s drafting a proposal, managing your inbox, working with a spreadsheet or organising a family calendar. If you haven’t used an AI tool before, set up a free ChatGPT or Claude account before the workshop.

How much does it cost?

Tickets are booked through Humanitix. Prices are shown on the booking page for each event – click here for the event page.

When is the next event?

The last Wednesday of every month (except December), from 5:45pm. Register for updates to hear each month’s topic first, or book tickets for the next event.

Where is it held?

At the Royal Automobile Club of Australia (RACA), 89 Macquarie Street, Sydney, a short walk from Circular Quay station (view on Google Maps). The RACA is a private members’ club with a dress code: collared shirts for men, and no shorts, thongs, sandshoes or sneakers.

Do I need to be an RACA member?

No. You’ll be joining us as a guest of the club for the evening.

Is my data safe during the workshop?

You work on your own laptop in your own accounts, and we don’t see or keep anything you work on. We’ll never sell your personal information. See our privacy policy for details.
